Preparing a Microscope Slide

In order to be able to use a microscope , you must be able to prepare a slide. A slide is simply a thin piece of glass that holds your specimen ( the thing you want to look at ) and lets you observe.

1. Place your specimen in the middle of a clean slide. Ensure that the specimen is laying laying flat and not folded .

2. Add 2-3 drops of the stain solution. Plant cells are commonly stained with iodine , wheres as animals cells are commonly stained with methylene blue. Both of these solutions stain the nucleus of each cell (and your fingers and clothes, so be careful)

3 Holding a cover slip by its edges in your left hand , manoeuvre it so that the bottom edge of the cover slip makes contact with both the slide and the edge of the stain solution. With your right hand , support the top edge of the cover slip with a pair of tweezers

4. Gently lower the cover slip with the tweezers , ensuring that no air bubbles are trapped under the cover slip.

5 Place your slide on the microscope stage and examine it under low-power magnification

1. Outline the function of the cover slip.

Dragon Heart and Medieval England.

What Am I Learning? :
I learned to know about what happen in middle ages / 10th century and about it
How Does This Work Show My Learning?
This shows my learning because i have done researched on it about it, and study.
What Am I Wondering?:
I am wondering how ( Rob Cohen ) came up with the idea and work

.

Place and Location:
Dragon Heart was filmed in the Seven different Places ,  Bratislave - Slovakia
, Spissky Castle - Slovakia , Cachtice Castle - Slovakia  ,
Koliba Studios - Bratislava - Slovakia (studio) , Tomasovsky vyhlad - Slovakia
,
Strecno Castle - Slovakia  and Dreveník - Slovakia. dragon is
set in 10th century England, but was filmed around Slovakia in central Europe,
particularly to the east of the country in the the beautiful landscapes
of the Slovak Paradise National Forest.
Dragon Heart filming dates were July 1994 - December 1994 ,
and its production Date was 1992 , then it was released in 31 may in 1996.

Middle Ages:
Back in the middle ages.   Under the feudal system, introduced
by the Normans society was like a pyramid. At the top of the pyramid was the
king. Below him were the barons or tenants-in-chief. The king granted
them land and in return they had to provide so many soldiers to fight for
so many days a year. They also had to swear an oath of loyalty to the
king and they became his vassals.
The barons granted land to knights. In return they had to fight for so
many days a year. However this system proved awkward. If a knight had to
fight, say, 40 days a year when the 40 days were up he would return
home even if the king were in the middle of a campaign. Kings began
to allow the barons to pay 'shield money'.
They used the money to pay soldiers when they needed them.
At the bottom of society were peasants. Most were serfs or villeins.
They were not free and could not leave their land without the lord's
permission. Furthermore, as well as working on their own land they
had to farm the lord's land for 2 or 3 days a week. They also had to
work extra days for him at busy times like harvest.
Although in time more and more lords allowed them to pay
money rents instead of doing labour service.

Villeins also had other burdens. For instance when
a villein died his son had to give the lord the best
animal before taking over his father's land. Usually
peasants had to grind their grain to flour in the lord's
mill and give him a portion of their grain . In some places
they also had to bake their bread in the lord's oven. However if you could
escape from your village to a town for a year and a day you then officially
became free. Moreover the Black Death severely weakened the villeinage
system. At the time of the Domesday Book the population of England was
around 2 million. By the end of the 13th century it had probably risen to about 6 million.
However in the early 14th century the climate of the world cooled and there
were a series of famines. The population began to fall. The Black
Death of 1348-49 killed about one third of the population of England.
So many people died there was a serious shortage of labour and lords
were willing to 'poach' workers from other lords by offering them higher
wages. Parliament tried to fix wages by law to prevent them rising but this
was impossible to enforce. By the 15th century the system of serfdom or
villeinage had broken down in England.
In the Middle Ages the king ruled by divine right. In other words people believed that God had chosen him to be king and rebelling against him was a sin. However that did not stop rebellions! Kings had limited power in the Middle Ages and rebellions were easy. A great deal depended on the personality of the king. If he was a strong character he could control the barons. If he were weak or indecisive the barons would often rebel. Warrior kings who fought successful wars were the most powerful as they were popular with the nobility.

We see this in Dragon Heart of their clothes and houses , and how the king can be really powerful  (King Einon) The villages houses look the same as the Film, the house in the film is the same as it was in the middle ages.  The village looks the same as it did in the 10th Century.

SEXXXY PARAGRAPHS

Dragon Heart.

In Dragon Heart close up shots were used very effectively. For instance they used close up shots in
this scene where Bowen is in the mouth of Draco holding a sword pointing inside his mouth.
So if Draco tries to eat Bowen then the sword would go straight through.  Draco and Bowen
Struggle in a uncomfortable position. It made this scene more humorous. There friendly
relationship gets further into the story. Where Bowen has to kill Draco to kill King Ellion .
It was the only way to kill King Enion . Which Breaks most viewers hearts.

In Dragonheart  Close-up shots was used effectively.
In this scene of  Bowen he is watching his dearly friend
Draco make it up too the heavenly skies. This shot happened
straight after seeing Draco turn into golden dust.
Draco turned into a star in the ending. This Scene
makes the audience feel Peaceful and Bitter at the same time.

In Dragon Heart mid shots were used effectively. This is a mid shot with Bowen and Einon , in this shot Einon is laying Bowen down with his knife pointing at Bowen’s neck. So in this scene it makes Einon the bigger person in this shot. This makes the audience see that Einon is strong and fiercer in this shot. Using the techniques Bowen taught Einon he has defected Bowen. This was done too show the audience that Einon has grown up.

In Dragonheart mid shots are used effectively to show
the expressions of the characters . This is shown at the
start of the film where Bowen and Einon are training.
Einon has been caught by Bowen , in the training with
the fake sword beneath Einon neck .  After being a douche about
Einon skills. It makes the audience understand their relationship between
each other. This Scene is introducing two of the main characters.
This can be compared in one of the later scene in the film ,
Where Bowen loses to Einon in a battle. It shows that Einon is a adult now.
Bowen realises that he has failed to train him into being a knight of the old
code.

about the shots.

What Am I Wondering?:

Animals Vs Plant cell

Cells are very small. They are the basic building blocks of all animals and plants. Although all animals and plants are made of cells , their cells are quite different.

A Animal Cell is made up on
Cell Membrane: it  Controls passage of substances in and out of the cell
Cytoplasm : Is a watery , gel-like substance that fills the inside of a cell. It is what the other cellular objects float around in while they are in the cell.
Nucleus  :  is a usually round part of most cells that is enclosed in a double membrane , controls the activities of the cell.

A Plant Cells is made up on :

Large Vacuole  A Cell is a tiny world of elements , one of which in the vacuole. Found in both plant and animal cells , a vacuole is a fluid- fulled pocket in the cell's cytoplasm that severs varying functions depending on the cell's requirements.

Cell Wall :  The usually rigid nonliving abortive wall that surrounds the plasma membrane and enclose and supports the cells of most plants , bacteria , fungi , and algae. More from Merriam-Webster on cell wall.
Cell Membrane  :  it  Controls passage of substances in and out of the cell
